Dubbed as the “Heaviest Tour of the Summer”, heave metal legends Pantera along with support acts Amon Amarth and King Parrot made a stop at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburb WA.

Pantera is famously known for the classic line up of Phil Anselmo (vocals), Rex Brown (bass), Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott (guitar) and Vinnie Paul Abbott (drums). Sadly, the brothers Abbott are no longer with us. Filling in on guitar is Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) on drums.

Pantera brought the heavy indeed! The band performed many a fan favorite as well as some tracks that have been played previously.

A huge kabuki style curtain with the band’s logo covered the stage, a video montage of the Abbott brothers as well as some of the bands history was played on the large video screens as “Suicide Note Number 1” filled the venue’s public address system.

Getting their set started with “Hellbound” off of Reinventing the Steel, it was obvious that the fans were going to be in for a great evening of heavy groove metal.

The crowd, old and new alike, were singing along with Anselmo as the band ripped through “5 Minutes Alone”, “Strength Beyond Strength” and “Mouth for War”.

Other fan favorites that Pantera performed were “Becoming”, “I’m Broken”, as well as some songs that made their debut on this tour or seldom had been played previously such as “10’s”, and “I’ll Cast a Shadow”.

Anselmo sounded amazing and he performed the solo on “Goddamn Electric”. Brown held down the bottom end on bass while Benante and Wylde performed exceptionally well and did the Brothers Abbotts proud with their performances.

The crowd were singing at the top of their lungs during “This Love” and “Cowboys From Hell” before the band came back to perform “A New Level”, “Walk” – which saw the Seattle Seahawks drumline the Blue Thunder come out and perform with the band, as well as “Domination / Hallow” before finishing the evening with “Fucking Hostile”.

In direct support were Swedish Death Metal icons Amon Amarth - Olavi Mikkonen (lead guitar), Johan Hegg (vocals), Ted Lundström (bass), Johan Söderberg (rhythm guitar), and Jocke Wallgren (drums) performed a scorching one hour set that made their current or longtime fans very happy and also garnered them new fans who hadn’t heard of the band’s music prior to this evening.

Getting the evening started were Australia’s King Parrot.
