It was a gorgeous Saturday evening in Seattle and the Climate Pledge Arena was absolutely packed to the rafters with fans of all ages wanting to see Daryl Hall and John Oates take the stage and perform a set filled with many well-known hit singles that the duo have been famously know for, spanning the better part of the last four decades.
As the sold out crowd patiently waited for the show to begin, episodes of Daryl Hall’s hit web series, Live From Daryl’s House, were displayed on the arena’s giant video screens with the audio played through the arena’s sound system. The stage was set up with large LCD screens that filled the back portion of the stage as well as a large screen that was shaped like an arch that filled the front portion of the stage. As the house lights went down, a gallery of Hall and Oates 45 RPM singles were displayed on the screens on the stage, and the band made their way one by one onto the stage. The band then jumped into the evening’s opening number, “Maneater”.
Hall then proceeded to introduce Pat Manahan from Train as the band played an original song penned just for the tour called “Philly Forget Me Not”. They also performed “Wait for Me” and a cover of Train’s “Calling All Angels”.
Hall and Oates and company finished out there set with “Kiss On My List” and “Private Eyes” before returning to perform “Rich Girl” and “You Make My Dreams” to close out the night. It was a great performance and a great evening of awesome music. The Seattle performance was the last stop of their current tour.
San Francisco based Train were the tour’s co-headliners and they performed an exceptional fourteen song one hour long set that got the audience primed and warmed up for the evening’s main event. Touring in support of 2016’s “A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat”, the band opened their set with “Drink Up” and proceeded to perform many fan favorites such as “50 Ways to Say Goodbye”, “Call Me Sir”, “Meet Virginia”, “Save Me San Francisco”. The band also played scorching renditions of Led Zepplin’s “Black Dog” and “Free Falling” by Tom Petty.
