German rockers, Scorpions, have been churning out records and tours for nearly six decades. They get better and better over time and their near capacity performance at the Tacoma Dome during their Rock Believer Tour was no exception.

The band performed an exceptional list comprised of 17 songs that span the course of 90 minutes that was close to perfection. For a band that has been around as long and with members in their late sixties to early seventies, the members of Scorpions had great energy and enthusiasm and they looked to be having an awesome time while performing to a crowd that a range of people seeing the band for the first time to the umpteenth time, many with their children and some with the grand children!

Though the band has had lineup changes, the current band members – founder Rudolf Schenker (rhythm guitar), Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Pawel Maciwoda (bass) have been the mainstays of the band for the past twenty years only having been recently joined by Mikkey Dee (drums) in 2016 – performed as well-oiled machine.

The band is touring the world in support of their latest release Rock Believer, though the set also mainly focused on their most popular releases Love at First Sting and Crazy World.

Meine’s voice still sounds great after all these years. He loves to interact with the crowd and the crowd loved it when he tossed drums sticks out to select areas around the stage and catwalk as well as posing for the crowd to thunderous ovations.

Schenker, Jabs and Maciwoda were tight knit and total hams for the crowd. Dee was a beast on the drums and, since joining the band, he has rekindled the fire that drives the band’s motivation.

Though there was a great response to whatever Scorpions song was performed, the bigger and louder responses came when the band played their biggest hits and fan favorites such as “The Zoo”, “Bad Boys Running Wild”, “Winds of Change”, “Big City Nights” and “Rock You Like a Hurricane”.

Unfortunately, the original opening act, Whitesnake, had to drop off of the tour. Thundermother, who hail from Stockholm, were a great replacement and did a superb job of getting the show started.
